New Features

Custom Tools

The addition of Custom Tools in frontline.io allows content creators to upload and manage their own reusable 3D assets across the workspace. These assets behave like native tools and integrate seamlessly across modules such as 3D Procedures, the Animation Builder, and the Immersive Room, helping teams maintain consistency and speed up content creation.

Key Highlights:
  1. Global Tool Access: Use custom tools across all modules in your workspace, fully integrated into the platform just like any default tool.
  2. Staging and Publishing: Upload tools into a staging area using the Digital Twin Editor, allowing for quality control and error reduction.
  3. Tool Control: Use the Digital Twin Editor capabilities to tailor your tool to best suit your needs.
  4. Share Tools: Upload tools and share them across the Workspace for use by the entire team.

Pivot Editing in the Digital Twin Editor

The new Pivot Editing mode provides creators with granular control over asset orientation by allowing the manual adjustment or centering of a part's pivot point. This ensures that rotations, scales, and animations behave predictably by aligning the transform logic with the specific geometry of the digital twin.

Key Highlights:
  1. Custom Pivot Placement: Effortlessly move the pivot point using the transform gizmo or manual field edits to define custom rotation and scaling centers.
  2. Smart Centering Tools: Automatically center pivots based on the mesh and children's bounding boxes for single or multiple parts simultaneously.
  3. Real-Time Visual Feedback: Utilize the pivot-specific visual indicators, including a red sphere marker and local-mode gizmos, to maintain precision during adjustments.
  4. Contextual Safety Warnings: Integrated alerts notify creators of potential impacts on existing animations, ensuring that structural changes don't disrupt established workflows.

Redesigned UI for 3D Procedures (Desktop & Mobile)

The 3D Procedures interface has been completely overhauled to provide a more immersive and streamlined user experience. By unifying the layout for both 2D and 3D content and removing unnecessary navigation layers, users can now launch and follow complex procedures with greater speed and clarity.

Key Highlights:
  1. One-Click Launch: A redesigned welcome page allows users to trigger procedures immediately with a single "Run" button that seamlessly transitions into a loading progress bar.
  2. Context-Aware Navigation: The "Next" button now intelligently hides when progression is locked—such as during pending multi-choice selections—reducing visual clutter and guiding the user's focus.
  3. Unobstructed 3D View: The player UI has been refined to keep the 3D environment fully visible, featuring a "Hide UI" mode for maximum immersion and an expandable "See More" option for long instructions.
  4. Integrated Settings & Media: Manage Digital Twin selection and 3D modes directly from the welcome page, while an updated media tray provides quick, full-screen access to supporting images and videos without leaving the step.

QR Code Targeting for Object Targets

Version 25.4 introduces QR-based placement as a high-precision alternative for Digital Twin alignment. This feature allows creators to anchor 3D content to physical assets with greater accuracy and speed, significantly reducing the need for manual adjustments during setup.
By integrating QR codes into your AR workflow, you ensure improved consistency across different users and locations. Content creators can now generate and download a QR code directly from the Digital Twin Editor, which end-users simply scan to anchor the model precisely where intended.

Key Highlights:
  1. Precision Placement Tools: Easily position, rotate, and scale a dedicated QR plane within the scene to match its real-world location, including support for global XYZ field edits.
  2. Flexible Target Hierarchies: QR placement supports both base targets and sub-targets, providing maximum flexibility when designing complex AR workflows.
  3. Streamlined Creation: Instantly generate a placeholder texture and download high-resolution images for physical printing directly from the Editor.
  4. Target Mode Versatility: Toggle between traditional Object Targets and QR-based placement on a per-item basis to suit the specific requirements of your environment.
  5. Optimized Visual Editor: The specialized QR placement panel ensures a clutter-free workspace, displaying the target plane only when the relevant item is selected.

Expanded Multi-Language Support

To further empower global teams, frontline.io has expanded its localization capabilities for real-time collaboration. This update ensures that language barriers are minimized during critical support sessions, allowing for clearer communication and faster resolution times.

Key Highlights:
  1. New Language Options: Added full support for Polish and Dutch captions, expanding accessibility for users in these regions.
  2. Real-Time Transcription: Experience accurate, synced captions during live remote support sessions to ensure all participants can follow technical instructions clearly.
  3. Seamless Integration: Easily toggle between languages within the caption settings without interrupting the flow of the support session.

Additional Features

  1. 3D Studio Status Indicator: A new visual "3D Studio Model" indication helps creators identify models created in 3D Studio in the Digital Twin Editor.
  2. Free camera movement is allowed during procedures at any time.
