frontline.io Version 24.3: Release Notes

Introduction

This release introduces a variety of enhancements aimed at improving user experience across multiple platforms, with key updates for Digital Twins, Animation Manager, Interactive Flows, Remote Support, and more.
Notable improvements include a faster and more intuitive Extract Mode for 3D Scene manipulation, enhanced Parts Catalog search functionality, and a streamlined Animation Manager with search capabilities. Interactive Flow features have been optimized for content creators, while Remote Support sees new options like the ability to toggle the scan overlay and retain marker color consistency.
Additionally, native sharing functionality has been added to mobile apps.

Digital Twin

3D Scene: Extract Mode

The new Extract Mode delivers a faster, more intuitive way to move parts without requiring precise adjustments. Users can reposition parts directly in the 3D view without relying on the gizmo tool.

Parts Catalog Updates

To improve efficiency in managing parts within Digital Twins (DTs), we are enhancing the Parts Catalog with advanced selection tools beyond the advanced search. These tools will allow users to quickly select parts based on specific criteria, streamlining the process of managing large and complex DTs. This release continues to enhance the search and selection functionality within the Parts Catalog, extending its capabilities to improve selection and filtering across key features such as the Digital Twin, 3D Scene, Animation Builder, Immersive Room, and subsystems.

Summarizing, the search options now include:

  • By Word
  • By Material
  • By Similarity
  • By Volume
  • By Spacing (introduced in version 24.2)

These additions provide users with more flexible and precise tools to navigate and manage complex data efficiently.

Animation Manager

Search Enhancement

The Animation Manager now includes a search feature to streamline editing by quickly locating specific parts. This improvement enhances usability, allowing for faster, more efficient navigation within the Animation Manager.

Animation Builder and Interactive Flows

Streamlined Workflow for Content Creators

These new features greatly improve clarity, efficiency, and effectiveness by reducing unnecessary back-and-forth and simplifying complex tasks. With a more cohesive and contextual workflow, content creators can work faster and with greater precision.
Edit Animation within the Interactive Flow
You can now edit animations directly within the Interactive Flow, and seamlessly exit the Animation Builder back into the Interactive Flow.

Auto Next Step Option

(Relevant to animations created using the Animation Builder)
After completion of the Flow, customize the flow by enabling next step automatically by selecting the option from within the node.

Welcome Panel for Procedures

A new panel introduces language selection, mode options, and general procedure information, providing essential details at a glance while dynamically adapting to display relevant options only.

Remote Support

Toggle Scan Overlay

Users can now control the scanning overlay in Remote Support, enhancing the augmented reality (AR) experience, improving focus and usability during remote support sessions. This improvement ensures users can focus on precise annotations while customizing the environment to suit their needs.

A new button in the draw menu allows users to toggle the scan effect on or off, providing flexibility to enable it when needed or remove it if it becomes distracting.
Info
Note that the default state of the scan is Off.

Marker Color Retention and Lost Placement Warning

Enhancements to marker functionality provide a more reliable and seamless user experience. These improvements make it easier to manage annotations and maintain accurate placement, enhancing efficiency during remote support sessions.

  • Marker colors stay consistent across actions and sessions, ensuring clarity and continuity in annotations.
  • A persistent warning icon alerts users when markers (arrows or beacons) lose their anchoring, with clear notifications to guide quick corrections.

Native Sharing Integration: Effortless Content and Call Invites

The mobile app now supports native sharing functionality, making it easier to invite others to calls using your device's installed apps.

  • A designated share button provides access to the native sharing system, displaying all compatible apps such as WhatsApp, SMS, Email, Slack, Telegram, and more.
  • Users can share call invitations directly from the "..." menu via the new "Share Invitation" option, available only on mobile for users with invitation permissions.

Closed captions - Asian Languages

Added support for eastern languages: Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

Bug Fixes:

Animation Builder
  1. Editing animations and creating groups caused animated parts to start in the wrong position when returning to the procedure.
  2. Ungrouping models in Animation Builder altered the pivot
  3. Using Ctrl + Z/Y disabled the move and rotate gizmo until exiting the Waypoint.
Interactive flows
  1. "Go To" nodes in 2D procedures did not redirect users to the second procedure when using a deep link.
  2. Multi-procedure scenarios: finishing a "Go To" procedure did not return users to the correct procedure.
Immersive Room
  1. Mobile participants could not see pictures or notes
Remote Support
  1. UI elements appeared too small in landscape mode (Android)

Known Issues

  1. Interactive Flow
    1. Users are redirected to the Projects page after exiting a procedure.
    2. Node Color: Pop-up borders do not display the correct color in 2D or 3D procedures, showing white instead.
    1. Closing a procedure also closes the AR session. When returning to the 3D scene, AR mode is lost, and re-anchoring is required.
    2. When accessing an Interactive Flow via a deep link, users on Android may encounter an empty Knowledge Base upon exiting the flow.
    3. Users viewing 3D Interactive Flows on iOS and Android will not see the animation timeline. Navigation must be performed using the play button.
  2. Digital Twin
    1. If a DT is closed while Xray mode is active, the Xray button remains highlighted in the next DT opened, even though Xray is not active. Workaround: Resetting the scene.
  3. Remote Support
    1. The syntax in the "Share Screen" toast message is incorrect.
    2. Captions do not function correctly on iOS devices when communicating with other devices.
      1. Workaround: Close and re-open the captions feature. Please note, if the microphone is toggled off and back on while captions are enabled, the captions will stop working again, requiring the workaround to be repeated.
