frontline.io: QR Object Placement (AR)
QR Object Placement (AR)
Applies to: Digital Twin Editor (PC App)
Audience: Content Creators & End Users
Feature: QR Code-Based Object Placement
Introduction
To improve accuracy and ease of positioning Digital Twins (DTs) in real-world environments, you can now use QR codes as markers for placement.
This feature allows content creators to generate a scannable QR code within the scene, which end users can later scan to correctly position the Digital Twin.
How to Set Up a QR Code in the Editor
For: Content Creators
Enable QR Placement:
- Select your object target item in the scene.
 - Click the "Enable QR" button.

QR Code Plane Creation:
- A QR plane is generated at the center of the scene.
 - The plane is rotated 90°, making it suitable to place on vertical surfaces (e.g., walls).
 - A placeholder QR texture is immediately shown for context.

Positioning:
- Move, rotate, and scale the QR plane freely to align it with your intended surface in the physical space.

Download the QR Code:
- Click "Download QR" to save the image.
 - The image is saved to your Downloads folder, which opens automatically.

Managing QR Codes:
- Only one QR code is supported per object target item.
 - To remove it, select the item and disable the QR feature.

For End Users: How to Use the QR Code
Locate the Physical QR Code:
Your content creator will have provided a printed or displayed QR image.
- Scan to Place DT
 - Open the Frontline.io app on your mobile device or AR headset.
 - Scan the QR code when prompted.
 - The Digital Twin will automatically snap into the correct position.

Begin Procedure:
- Once placed, proceed with the workflow or experience as usual.

Best Practices
Use a clear, well-lit surface when printing/displaying the QR code.
Ensure there is no other QR code nearby to avoid confusion during scanning.
Align the QR code carefully in the editor to match its physical position.
Notes
QR codes are used for object placement only and are not linked to procedure triggers.
Editing the QR’s transform (position/rotation/scale) affects the DT’s final alignment.
