Introduction
Hot Spots allow users to quickly and easily navigate and view specific parts of a model. By moving through multiple Hot Spots, users can explore different areas of the model with ease.
How to Create a Hot Spot
Create a New Game Object:
Start by creating a new Game Object. For better organization, rename the object to something relevant.
Position the Hot Spot:
Select the Hot Spot object.
Press
Control + Shift + F
to snap the object to your current camera view.Adjust and move the Hot Spot to the desired location within the scene.
Add the Hot Spot to Your Device:
Select your main device (the object named "Devices").
In the "Device Locations" field, click the plus icon. This action will create a new Hot Spot element.
Open the newly created Hot Spot element and give it a name. You can use the name of the Hot Spot object for consistency.
In the "Position" field, select and drag the Hot Spot object into place.
Set the Z Distance:
Adjust the "Z Distance" value to 1. This determines how far back the camera will move from its pivot point (the Hot Spot) when viewing the model.
Test the Hot Spot:
Enter Play Mode.
Select "Hot Spots" from the main menu to test your setup. The camera should now be positioned 1 meter from the center of the model and will rotate around it.
Adding a Description to the Hot Spot
Starting from Frontline 3D Studio version 24.XX, you can add a description to your Hot Spots.
When you open the Hot Spot in the "Devices" section, you'll notice a "Description" box.
Write your description in this box to provide additional context or details about the Hot Spot. This description will be associated with the Hot Spot and can be viewed by users.
Adding More Hot Spots
You can repeat this process to create additional Hot Spots, allowing users to cycle through various views of the model.
Triggering Actions with Hot Spots
You can also assign actions to Hot Spots. For example, you can play an animation when switching to a specific Hot Spot:
In the "On Move to Location" field, click the plus icon.
Select your animation object and drag it into the empty field.
Choose the "Play" option from the dropdown menu.
Now, when you select the Hot Spot in Play Mode, the assigned animation will automatically play.
