How to Use the Visual Filter Menu and Smart Text Filtering in the Parts Catalog
When working with complex digital assemblies, being able to focus on the right parts at the right time makes a significant difference.
Whether you're troubleshooting, preparing animations, or reviewing part data, quickly narrowing down what you see can improve both speed and clarity.
That’s where the Visual Filter Menu and Shortcut-Based Text Filtering come in. These tools, now part of the Parts Catalog, offer a more intuitive way to filter components directly within your workspace—without interrupting your workflow.
The Filter Menu is built into the existing search panel and can be toggled open or closed with a dedicated button in the Parts Catalog.
A new Filter Menu is now available directly from the Parts Catalog for a more visual and user-friendly experience.
Menu Features:
- Accessed from a dedicated button in the Parts Catalog
- Easily open/close without disrupting your session
- Built into the existing search settings panel
- Supports filtering by:
- Spare Part
- Xrayed
- Visible
- Animated (in Animation Builder only)
- Filters can be used to include or exclude attributes
- Affects both Parts List and 3D model
- Updates reflected in real time
Additional Enhancements
- "Show Statistics" toggle for visibility into parts data
- Symbol Indicator appears in the search field when filters are active
- Filters are:
- Reset when the scene is reset or the Digital Twin is reopened
- Preserved when closing the Parts Catalog
- "Reset button" clears all active filters instantly
Shortcut-Based Text Filtering
You can now filter parts directly through the search input using smart, prefix-based shortcuts. This new feature enables faster, more precise, and multi-attribute filtering.
Key Features:
- Prefixes for attributes:
- sp: – Spare Part
- xray: – Xrayed
- v: – Visible
- anim: – Animated Part (Only in Animation Builder)
- Inclusion & Exclusion:
- Include: sp:valve (shows spare parts with "valve")
- Exclude: -xray: (hides all xrayed parts)
- Combine Filters:
- Separate multiple filters with commas (e.g., sp:,xray:)
- Live Results:
- Filters apply instantly in both the Parts Catalog and 3D View
- Autocomplete Suggestions:
- Input field offers smart suggestions for available shortcuts
- Graceful Error Handling:
- Invalid or unrecognized filters are safely ignored
Together, the visual and text-based filtering tools give users more control and flexibility.
