Importing Microsoft Dynamics Guides to frontline Flows

Importing Microsoft Dynamics Guides to frontline Flows

Introduction

frontline’s “Guides to Flow” feature helps you transition smoothly from Microsoft Dynamics Guides to frontline.io more powerful Interactive Flow system. With Microsoft retiring the Guides platform, this tool ensures your valuable content doesn’t go to waste.

What You Can Import

When using this feature, the following content from your Microsoft Dynamics Guide will be imported:

  • Step titles and descriptions

  • Associated media: images and videos

  • The general structure and flow order of your Guide

Supported File Format

You can import your content by uploading a .guides file, which can be exported directly from the Power Apps Guides interface in Microsoft Dynamics.

How to Use the Import Feature

  1. In the frontline.io web app, go to the Knowledge Base and click “Create New”, then select “Interactive Flow.”

  2. In the window that opens, you’ll see a new “Import” button added to the interface.

  3. Click the Import button to drag and drop your .guides file, or browse your computer to upload it manually.

  4. Upload your .guides file.

  5. The system will automatically begin importing the content.

  6. Once the import is complete, the new flow will appear in your Knowledge Base, ready to use and edit.

Familiar Tools, New Power

We’ve brought over 90% of the tools previously available in Microsoft Dynamics Guides into frontline.io — and we’re actively working to expand this toolbox. Our goal is to ensure that animations, interactions, and training elements can be recreated using tools you’re already familiar with from Guides, now with even more flexibility.

Info

Known Limitations

  • Multi-task branching: If your Guide includes multiple tasks with multi-choice questions directing to internal steps of another task, some logic may not be fully preserved during import.

Idea
Recommended: After import, review the flow and consider adjusting the connections to ensure you're making full use of the available node options.

Why Move to Frontline?

With Microsoft Dynamics Guides being retired, many users are left without a platform for their existing content. Frontline offers a modern, future-ready alternative that enhances your training experience with:

  • Real-world machine targeting

  • Interactive animations

  • Multi-device support (including mobile, tablet, desktop, and XR)

  • Ongoing feature development and support

Give your content a second life—with more power than ever before.
