Digital Twin - Anchoring on Mobile devices

Introduction

In your Digital twin 3D scene or a remote support call, you can bring up your digital twin, put it next to you, or link it to a real machine. This lets you easily talk with your coworkers and customers about it, and even go through interactive details together.

Getting Started

Note: If you are already using the Digital twin in a 3D scene, just skip to the second step).

  1. To initiate the Anchoring process during a remote support session, simply click on the settings button (3 dots) and then select "Minimize." This action will reduce the call window, enabling you to engage with other sections of the app.

  2. Navigate to the desired digital twin in the knowledge base.
    Afterward, click on the AR icon at the bottom of the screen to commence the anchoring process.


Anchoring User Interface

The anchoring process provides two options: Automatic Tracking and Manual Placement. Once you click on the AR button, you can select your preferred method.​

Let's go over the interface buttons to help you get acquainted. Firstly, there are two options: Manual and Tracking. These options determine how you want to anchor your digital twin to your surroundings.



The "Place" button is used to confirm the desired placements, while the "Cancel" button closes the anchoring process.

In Automatic Tracking mode, you'll notice two additional buttons: the "Reset" button and the "Settings" button.




The "Reset" button, exclusive to Tracking mode, resets the placement and rotation for the model, providing a quick way to start afresh.

Meanwhile, the "Settings" button, also visible only in Tracking mode, enables you to override the automatic placement during the tracking method, giving you more control over the anchoring process.

Automatic Tracking Mode

In Automatic Tracking mode, you will see a Red hologram. the hologram will try to anchor to the real-life machine. once it recognizes the machine, it will turn from red to yellow and from yellow to green meaning the anchoring was successful.




Manual Placement Mode

In Manual Placement mode, your digital twin will appear directly in front of you. You have the flexibility to move and rotate it according to your preferences.

Once satisfied, you can place it precisely where you want it to be placed.




Place, Accept, Repeat

After successfully anchoring in either mode, you have the option to return to the remote call or just see the digital twin alone.
Additionally, you can initiate an interactive flow, allowing both you and the person in the call to view the anchored digital twin through your respective cameras. This enhances collaboration and facilitates a shared understanding of the anchored object.

Conclusion

Utilizing the AR feature in the digital twin enables you to visualize your digital twin either beside you or anchored to a real-life model. The anchoring process simplifies this operation, providing users with a seamless and dynamic option to utilize it whether they are alone or engaged in a remote support call.
