Creating an Immersive Room
Introduction
We're saying goodbye to one of the main key elements in frontline today. It's sad to see the Virtual Training Room (VTR) go. But don't worry! We've got something new for you: the Immersive Room.
Immersive room
What's the Immersive Room all about? Well, it's essentially a digital space where you can enter and find yourself in settings like a factory or an office. Here, you can place your digital twin and interact with it.
One neat feature is that whatever you do in this room gets saved. So, it becomes like an open area you can return to whenever you like. It's a bit like having a replay button, allowing you to revisit and experience the room again at your own pace.
Additionally, you have the option to include pictures, videos, documents, and notes within the room. This provides you with a digital space for learning and sharing with others.
Create a Room
To create a new room, please access the immersive room tab on the left side of the app, the immersive room icon replaces the icon of the VTR.
inside the immersive room dashboard, at the right corner, you have the Create a new room button.
In the immersive room dashboard, you'll find the Public Room in your workspace. You can also switch to your private rooms, which are exclusively yours.
Room Settings
Let's walk through all the settings you can adjust in the room settings.
Header and Description
At the top of the settings, you can name your room and describe it.
Link for sharing
Similar to how you share links for meetings in remote support, you can share a link that directs users to the room you've opened.
Date Created
When you first open the settings, the date and time are automatically assigned. You can always change them if needed.
End Date
As we mentioned earlier, the Immersive Room can be available indefinitely for users. However, if there's a specific date and time you want to close the room, you can do so by checking the end date checkbox.
Select Digital Twin
Here, you can choose which digital twin you want to have in the room.
Notes
Once the room is created, you can remove the digital twin or change it in the edit room settings.
You can create a new room without including a digital twin.
Select Environment
This is where you choose the environment for your room.
Admission Requirement
Decide whether users need approval to enter your room:
None: No approval is needed.
Guest Only: Only guests require approval.
For Everyone: All users need approval.
Public Room
By default, your room is private, visible only to users within your workspace. Check this box if you want guests to enter.
Room Permissions:
Manage permissions for users within the room:
Allow others to add media.
Allow others to edit media.
Allow others to chat (coming in the next version).
Allow others to show their pointer.
Disable microphone access for room participants.
Thumbnail
The thumbnail appears at the top of the settings. Why discuss it here? The thumbnail is initially the default image from the selected environment. However, you can create a new thumbnail after adding digital twins or media elements to better represent your room.
Create the Room
Once you've finished setting all your room parameters, simply hit the Create button.
You'll then be taken back to the main dashboard of the Immersive Room. Here, you'll find the room you created in the relevant area, whether it's public or private.
