Mixed Reality - Digital Twin
Updated over a week ago

Introduction

Starting with version 24.2, users can interact with their Digital Twin on HoloLens 2 in a way similar to how they do on the Magic Leap 2.

Let’s explore the options available in the Digital Twin menu.

Getting Started

First, choose the relevant Digital Twin from the Project window. After anchoring it to a real machine or placing it manually, the Digital Twin menu will appear.

Digital Twin window

At the beginning, you'll see all the options relevant to your Digital Twin. Interacting with each option will unlock different ways to engage with your Digital Twin.

Two buttons that function independently of the other features are the "Place Model" and the "Show/Hide 3D Model.

Show/Hide 3D Model

This option allows you to view your entire Digital Twin with all the assigned materials. When enabled, any procedure you play will appear just as it does in the PC app.

Place Model

If you need to re-anchor your model to the real machine or place it manually again, simply click "Place Model," and the process will begin.

Operations

Just like in the PC version, you can view the operations created for the Digital Twin in the 3D studio.

Procedures

Selecting this button will bring up a list of procedures associated with the Digital Twin, displaying only the relevant content.

Extract

This option allows you to move parts within the Digital Twin. Activate it and start rearranging parts as needed.

  • Return All Parts: Resets all parts to their default positions.

  • Return Last Part: Undoes the last movement, returning the part to its default position.

X-Ray

Toggle this option on or off to reveal the inner components of the Digital Twin.

Conclusion

Version 24.2 makes interacting with your Digital Twin on HoloLens 2 more intuitive and user-friendly. With easy access to operations, procedures, and tools for manipulating parts, you can efficiently manage and explore your Digital Twin. Get started and make the most of these powerful features.
